Our Story
Trinity Justice Unity Lodge No. 79, Free & Accepted Masons, was established in Atlantic City, New Jersey in 1867 — shortly after the incorporation of Atlantic City itself. Chartered under the Grand Lodge of New Jersey F&AM, the lodge has served the Atlantic County community for over 155 years.
Over its long history, TJU Lodge evolved through mergers with neighboring lodges to preserve its membership and mission. The lodge is an active part of the 23rd Masonic District of New Jersey and currently meets at 563 Zion Road, Egg Harbor Township, NJ.
Our brotherhood is built on the timeless principles of Brotherly Love, Relief, and Truth — values that have guided Freemasons for centuries and continue to shape our service to the community today.
Notable Members Of Our Lodge
Governor Walter Evans Edge — Master Mason
One of New Jersey’s most significant statesmen. Served as Governor twice (WWI and WWII eras), U.S. Senator, and U.S. Ambassador to France under President Hoover.
Judge Joseph Thompson — Lodge Member
Born in Mays Landing, rose to Mayor of Atlantic City (1892–1894) and Judge of the Atlantic County Court of Common Pleas. Key figure in shaping Atlantic City’s early legal and financial infrastructure.
Dr. Edward S. Reed — Past Master
One of Trinity Lodge’s early Worshipful Masters. Pioneering Atlantic City physician who helped organize the city’s first public health and sanitation boards.
R.W. Gregory Stahl — Past Master & District Deputy Grand Master
Served as District Deputy Grand Master for the Grand Lodge of New Jersey. Spent years researching and advocating for the rededication of the lodge’s historical charter origins.
